Mood As A Style Guide

Most people dress for the weather. Some dress for the mirror.
I dress for how I feel.
That’s not rebellion. It’s survival.
When I feel grounded, like everything’s steady and in place, I pull on something floral.
There’s something about leaves and petals that settles me.
It reminds me that roots can still grow wild.
When I’m electric — when ideas are popping and I can’t sit still — I go for checkerboard.
It’s sharp, loud, unapologetic.
A pattern that doesn’t ask to be noticed. It just is.
When I feel invisible, but in a good way, I grab camo.
Not green. Desert tones. Pink or gray, maybe.
The kind of blend-in that doesn’t mean hiding. Just choosing peace.
When I’m bold in a quiet way, I go for stars.
They’re not loud like lightning, but they shine.
Wearing stars feels like holding a secret.
Like knowing something the world hasn’t figured out yet.
When I’m sad, I reach for something with texture.
Something fluid. Something that wraps.
The rhythm in the lines keeps me together when I feel like falling apart.
And on days when I don’t know how I feel at all?
That’s when I wear the shoes that fit like I designed them myself.
Because maybe I did.
